So lately, I’ve been learning and playing more Breton tunes, mostly on flute, but I’d like to expand my small repertoire on GHB as well. I mostly pick up the tunes by ear, but it would be nice to have some books. The only book I have (and indeed, the only one I know of) is “Musique Traditionelle Bretonne pour Cornemuse” edited by Jean-Luc Le Moign. It was published in the late-80s and is long out of print. I’ve learned a few tunes from it, but it can be somewhat annoying to sightread from–the tunes are all written out by hand and the note stems for melody notes and gracenotes are the reverse of what Scottish pipers would be used to reading. The result–to me, anyway–looks somewhat cluttered.
Recently, I found a couple of websites that have arrangements of Breton tunes, but here, many of the tunes have been transposed up a step and also lowered an octave, which is, again, mildly annoying.
Does anyone know of any other Breton tune books that use standard GHB notation?
