How do you clean inside your low whistle? I have a Dixon (plastic body)and an Overton low D (alu body), both no-tunable.
Thanks,
hi stefpat,
i always put a few drops of washing-up liquid in the mouthpiece.
i also use a cleaning rod.
edit: if your mouthpiece is clogged up, it’s best to soak it in warm water.
http://www.stentor-music.com/catalogue/html%20general/86.htm make sure the rod is long enough
i haven’t got an overton, but colin told me to cut up my visa card and scrape the whistle out with it.
this is also a good cure for WHOA, you can’t buy anymore whistles then. ![]()
For all plastic or metal whistles, you can do pretty much whatever you want. Ive even heard of some people putting them in the dishwasher, although that seems a bit extreme and might warp the blade of a plastic whistle.
