I’ll post my full list later; just glad to see someone else who appreciates Rawlins Cross. The first time I saw them I thought Rolling Stones with pipes and whistles!
Plus, Rawlins Cross uses a Chapman Stick! Yay!

I have not yet accumulated a large amount of whistlework in my CD collection, but I just picked up the latest CD by a group I caught live at the Queen Mary Celtic Fest, Gaelic Storm. The CD is called Tree. They have a new fiddle, Kathleen Keane, who also plays whistle and low whistle. She is (how do I put this) … pretty agile on the whistle. One track is a reel featuring her whistle at a take-no-prisoners tempo, which I also saw her do live, so it wasn’t a fluke, honest!
I’m sure this shouldn’t be considered a top-ten whistle album, but it’s worth a listen. Plus the band as a whole is one hell of a lot of fun.
Adding to the poll only one that hasn’t been mentioned before: Dublin piper/whistle player Gavin Whelan’s self titled new whistle CD. Wow. New #1 favorite for me!

TonyHiggins is right -
Davy Spillane: “Sea of Dreams” is a must
Of course…
Joanie Madden: “Song of the Irish Whistle”
Joanie Madden: “Song of the Irish Whistle 2”
I’d have to say:
Mary Bergin Feadoga II
Mary Bergin Feadoga Stain I
(close tie for 2nd) Willie Clancy The Minstrel From Clare
Paddy Moloney & Sean Potts “Tin Whistles”
The Storm - Moving Hearts
Bothy Band - Live in Concert. Now this one needs explanation! There are no tinwhistles on the CD, but the CD is so amazing and Matt Molloy is, well… Matt Molloy. This CD inspired me more than any other I’ve heard to work on learning all the tunes.

jomac,
Rent “Titanic” I know the movie is horrendous but Gaelic Storm is the band that played in the “Steerage” scene in the movie
I second the Gaelic Storm suggestion. Not very much whistle but all of their cd’s are good.

- Planxty
- Rawlins Cross - Reel 'n Roll
- James Galway and the Chieftains (both Skye and Ireland)
- The Best of the Bothy Band
- James McNally - Every Breath

Of all that I have, these two stand out above the rest.
