i know this has probably been explained before in here, but i searched back and couldn’t find anything, probably missed it. What is the difference between the two, and which one is more preferable? thanks. i have looked at the his website, and it was a little helpful, but didnt explain the whole thing.

you also have to take into consideration from the e-mail I recieved yesterday that Phil has reworked the chieftain new style and come up with a new model called the V3, he says he has fallen in love with the sound but then he makes them so I would expect that, he has promised to put some soundfile reviews up soon, the design as far as I can tell is a sort of hybrid of the songbird and the Chieftain low D.

i saw some pictures of the V3, it was beautiful. Phil Hardy said he absolutely loves it.

The windway and tone hole on the new V3 looks kinda like an MK don’t ya think?
So it’s a hybrid in more ways than one? 
Very nice looking whistle. Think I might have to get my hands on one of these.
I have played the Songbird, Chieftain OS, a newer but not NR Chieftain, and a KerryPro.
Songbird: slightly quieter, slightly more flute-like.
Chieftain: more whistle-like, louder than Songbird.
KerryPro: “deeper” sounding, whistle-like, highest quality (in my opinion).
At the moment, I like all three about the same. I currently own a Chieftain and KerryPro. The KerryPro is definitely fancier and looks like a Overton.
