Anyone happen to have a spare set of F mandolin tuners with black buttons? I think they’d look a lot better on my Gloucester than the white ones. Any source for inexpensive decent ones? I don’t want to spend as much on them as I did for the mando ![]()
Paul: no idea, mate.
I suggest the ‘Builders’ or ‘Equipment’ forums at mandolincafe.com… If anyone can help, those guys can.
Sorry Paul, I’ve searched around as well and come up with nothing. The mando builders at the Cafe can probably set you up with something. Maybe some nice ebony buttons would look sharp. Don’t know how inexpensive it would be though.
Bit pricey in ebony, but ever considered looking for just the buttons alone?

I get a lot of things from Stew Mac. Good place to look!!
Not a bad option, but how would I get the old buttons off?
I take it you have glued on buttons? My Ovation was that way and I had to buy a whole new set of tuners when I broke a button. The replacement buttons are for the kind that have the little screw holding the button on.
I’ve actually gotten stuff from him, and it’s nicely made.
Of course, there’s the option of actually painting the ones you’ve got.
At the suggestion of someone on the Mandolincafe message board, I’ve decided to make a set. Instead of black, I’ll use some nice Cocobolo (which will darken with time anyway.
I made them, and they look KILLER. Pics to follow
Pics, pics… where da pics?
