Thanks for posting the Robert Dick extract. Very interesting! I heard Robert Dick play about a year ago in a recital. He got some amazing sounds out of his flutes. (Seems like he played Brannens, but I’m not sure.)

I am in shock having struggled through the book to the north of me.
Remember that Louis Lot described one of his pitch options was the old pitch of 440 - 450 .
I am surprised ar the number of Potters , Grensers and others made in the very early 1800s at A = 440
All my boxwood Potters , including the 1806 WE Potter ( 1785 patent with register foot & 4 keys )I bought last week are at around 415 . Great players all.
The ivory & ebony & silver are rather higher in pitch.
Wasn’t it Nicholson who earned the sobriquet “Iron-Lips”?
