As I´ve said before I´m trying to finish a chanter which just reaches 2nd G and I´ve made the pilot tone holes, and I was wondering if the little holes can kill the 2nd octave.
I´ve used rolled brass tapered bore staples and then changed to brass tubing and it was even worst.
Can anybody help me ?

Have you tried contacting a pipe maker yet?
It would be nice, but there isn´t any in Argentina except for a few (one or two) Galician and GHB makers. That is just a part of the problem, the other part is that the pipes are too expensive (as in many countries) but the economical situation here makes to buy a pipe an impossible mission.
Look I´ve started five or six years ago as a whistlemaker, a year ago I´ve made a brass set of smallpipes that sounds pretty good and in tune, I´m close to finish my square chanter and brass drones GHB, and I won´t let any economical or sounding trouble stops me to get my UP chanter.

I meant contacting a pipe maker and asking them the questions you have about building chanters. Some may help, and some may not, but I think it is at least worth a try.
