I am happy to see that this reedmaker “candles” his slips. Light is a mighty tool in making certain that there is a symetry in the reeds construction and thickness. While it is no problem for me to make a reed without candling, if I have a lamp available, I will candle every time.
The fact that he’s making a non uilleann reed doesn’t matter much here, the information provided is of great value to the uilleann pipes as well. I particularly like his former/sanding set up.
