Changing the oil

Is there any downside from changing from one sort of oil for the bore to another (_e.g.,_almond oil to “bore oil” or vice-versa)?

[Please let’s not go down the “which is best” path again, just looking to see if it matters if I change from one to another with a previously oiled instrument.]

Also, what’s in “bore oil”? There isn’t a list of ingredients on the package. Animal, vegetable, mineral, or other?

Thanks and best wishes.

Purified mineral oil, according to the above.

Don’t see why there’d be a problem with changing. I don’t care for the smell of bore or mineral oil, but millions of clarinet, oboe, bassoon, recorder, and wooden piccolo players seem to be OK with it.

Even though it “sometimes [has] a small amount of essential lemon oil or other scented, concentrated essential oils added to aid in cleaning and/or to produce a pleasant smell when applied.” ? Of course that makes me wonder just what are the other “essential” oils

Thanks. Just want to make sure that there are no compatibility issues with switching one way or the other…

Best wishes.
