I’ve changed my mind about the Susato D whistle. I bought one about 3 or 4 years ago at the same time I bought a Sweetone D.
I loved the Sweetone and absolutely hated the Susato. Many of the upper register notes were really sour! It sounded like a bad plastic soprano recorder!
Occaisionally I would put down my battered Sweetone and pick up the Susato to see if it was as bad as I remembered. It always was.
A few weeks ago I picked it up again and tried playing it. Again it sounded awful!. This time (instead of jamming it back into the whistle jar)I started experimenting with different adjustments to the tuning. All of a sudden, the higher notes sounded the way they were supposed to sound. Duhh!
I’ve decided it’s a pretty good whistle after all. It has a much clearer sound than my Sweetone and no chiff. It is still less forgiving from the standpoint of holding the upper register.
happy toons!
