Check the sticky thread on eBay/Pakistani flutes and save your money!

If you want to spend less than $100, you can’t go wrong with a Tipple. They’re made of PVC and are available on eBay. They play nicely, are well in tune. Quite a number of us had them as starter flutes and still keep them for occasions where we don’t want to put the good flute at risk (hiking, the beach etc.). He also makes flutes in a variety of keys, and that can be fun too.

If you want to spend a bit more, Casey Burns folk flute is well regarded, Dixon makes a 3-piece polymer one that some folks like and there are other options. Do a bit of research on this forum and you’ll come up with a number of suggestions.

…and search on flute lamp…

Thanks for the responce. Your confirming my suspision.

Not that I’m realy looking for a wooden flute in the moment. I’m busy with the Böehm flute, that I’ve been playing for many years now. And my new passion, the whistle, that I’ve played since christmas.

On the other hand, I’m waiting for John Cochrans tour flute to arrive some time this week. I’m realy looking forward to try this flute.
Who knows, I might get hooked. :astonished:

Check with Chris Dawson of “Rhiannon Flutes.” He makes very high quality bamboo flutes and he is in Europe. Players like Brian Finnegan and Jean-Michel Veillon play them.

I made some enquiries two months ago and they told me no availability at all. But…in second thoughts…I maybe wrote to a dealer rather than Chris Dawson, not sure. Trying again, thanks for the topic.
