Hello pipers,
I was asking questions on the flute forum about finding a flute that would play along with C# pipes and realize I don’t know
whether the pipes I’m listening to are in modern C#. I am aware that they were originally lower pitched D (or made in D at a lower pitch standard) instruments and not dedicated C# instruments. I guess my question is are todays makers making them to play in modern C#. If I got a flute maker to make a scaled C# flute would it work or are they far north of modern C#. Where do they Ennis Coyne pipes sit. I am aware it will vary widely as well but I suppose in general. Sorry if the question is too non specific. I wouldn’t want to trouble loads of makers directly with this type of question. Anyone here have C# flute (antique or new ) to play along with a specific set. Thanks for your help, Patrick
I don’t know the answer to your question but… you’re in Glasgow?
You should come down to the Oran Mor for a tune on a Wednesday night at some point. ![]()
