C.P.

I received my Wide Bore D telescopic whistle on Friday.
This is by far the coolest whistle I’ve seen or played.

When I contacted Mr. Hoover I asked for a whistle with moderate volume, a nice balance between the octaves
and a little chiff.
Mack suggested the WBD and it fits the bill to perfection.
If you own a Hoover Whistle then I don’t need to tell you how well they play.

Thanks Mack!

I got the Trad and the Narrow Bore versions with a lanyard loop on each. Have to agree with maki – by far the coolest whistles in my collection. The Trad plays smoothly & easily, as does the NB whenever I remember to breathe, not blow, into the whistle.

Thanks, Mack!

The future is now!

I love every one of my NBD’s and am constantly struggling to fit them in my jacket pocket securely (they are part of my EDC you see).

I have 10 or so whistles and when I want to play … just me and the whistle … my NBD’s are the ONLY possible choice. The combination of low volume and sweet tone (an AMAZING second octave) give it the most intimate voice I have experienced from a whistle thus far. (Im DONE sticking paper clips in windways!)

Incoming order!

Is that high D or low D? Does it come in other keys as wel? I might need one for my purse. You never know when you might want to play!

That’s a high D. Folded/un-telescoped it’s less than 6" in length.

(But please, for the sake of your health, don’t mention the difficulty of schlepping any sized whistle about to a cellist.)

Best wishes.

Steve

Ooh, thanks for the info! I am expecting a package fom Mack soon  and I will seriously contemplate getting one of those handy dandy carry everywhere whistles!

Since I got my Mack Hoover telescoping D whistle—with a pocket clip—my life has changed. Now when I head to a session I put on my tuxedo, slip in a pocket protector and my Mack Hoover telescoping D whistle—with a pocket clip—, get into my Aston Martin and drive to the session. I saunter in, order a Guinness—shaken, not stirred—and stride toward the circle of musicians. When someone invites, “Fancy a tune, Steve” I reach into my pocket protector and, with a deft flick of my wrist, snap open my Mack Hoover telescoping D whistle to a perfect in-tune position. I rattle off a few reels at amazing speed, a couple of jigs with a built-in bounce, and flash a smile at the red-haired harpiste. When she recovers from her swoon, we head for the Aston Martin and an evening of O’Carolan. All thanks to my Mack Hoover telescoping D whistle—with a pocket clip.

Happy first of April to all of you—and to John Coltrane too.

Best wishes.

Steve

Well, not to disturb you from your elegant life :stuck_out_tongue: , but does that telescoping whistle have the same quiet volume as his regular whistles?

Yes. Mine is a narrow bore so it’s especially soft for those intimate whistling moments.

Best wishes.

Steve

Steve, you forgot to mention that all this happened at 8:37pm GMT…according to your Rolex Submariner. A cool instrument, second only to the Mack Hoover Telescoping D.
