Broke my Thumb

Hi all,
I am really bummed, broke my left thumb and it is going to be 6-8 weeks before I can play whistles or my pipes again

Oh, Ron, what a bummer! I can think of lots of suggestions but you probably don’t want to hear them yet. Hang in there, Nancy F

Hrm… A tabor pipe can be played with one hand, right?

Sorry you busted your poor thumb. Maybe it’ll heal quickly. Um, take lots of vitamins.

Geesh Ron!

Perhaps it’s karma for missing me and NOT being there to play pipes with over the weekend?

I do wish you all the best, and a quick recovery!

BTW…how ARE those pipes of yours coming?

Bri~

How’d you do it?

If you’re looking for a challenge, try switching hand positions, putting your left on the bottom. You use your top hand’s thumb a lot more, and you MIGHT just be able to play in this way. Or not. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Ah, Ron, what a bummer! Sorry that had to happen. Hope you recover soon.

If you have a hard cast you should be able to manage a whistle with some velcro or tape… piping, well… that’s a different story!

If you have access to a naturopathic doctor, check to see if you can take comfrey. It’s a great bone knitter and might help you heal a bit more quickly… you can get it in capsules or tea, or you can get the homeopathic remedy Symphytum. Nettles and horsetail are also good for breaks. Perhaps more info than you wanted, so YMMV.

Sending speedy healing vibes your way!

Slainte (this really fits right now!),

Percoset is fine, but it makes my head itch!

Hey, Anna. . . do you think the Percs are responsible for my overuse of exclamation points??

Ron, sorry to hear! Best to you and a speedy recovery.
