Far out…

I’m afraid I have to spend every penny I get, so my sculpture wouldn’t be too high… Do you know that little bowl of pennies they have at the post office in case somebody needs an extra one cent? Sometimes it has nickels in it, too, and I raid it.

I gathered up some pennies, and built one of those bridges, on the kitchen table, but some time during the course of the day it got knocked over. I don’t know by whom.

Gee, my husband has a fishing tackle box full of pennies he says might be valuable some day. Riiiiiight. So now I guess I know what we can do with them in the meantime. Keep those ideas coming, folks!

The pre-1982 pennies are currently worth about 1.5 cents each for their copper content. The post-1982 pennies (copper replaced by zinc) are getting close to 1 cent in metal content value, so your husband may actually have a point. However at approximately 160 pennies to a pound, it will literally take a ton or two of copper pennies (pre-1982) to make it worth the time and energy. I don’t think anyone is buying old pennies to melt them yet, but the day is probably not that far off.

I put my pennies and other change in a little box, then buy stamps with them at the post office vending machine. So my stack would be small too. Sigh. Sometimes it is nice to have a bunch of pennies. It might give the illusion of being rich. Maybe I’ll ask for a couple of rolls next time I go to the bank, just to have some to play with. Makes for a cheap toy…

I’ve been saving my change for the last week or so, and today I finally had enough to make this:

My hands don’t work right, so I suck at this! :stuck_out_tongue:
