Does anyone know how to get a copy of a fabled blue and orange book that was widely touted after willie week last year?
It was supposed to not only have a boad load of tunes in it but also they were arranged in commonly played or well-working sets. (To teach you to play more than just one reel or jig at a time)
Scott do ye mean the Yellow and Blue Books.āMusic for the Setsā?They come with six cassettes.Ye can get it from Na Piobaire Uillean. or if ye want the isb itsISBN 1 899512330.
Feel free to insult me for this information aka Mac and his quest for a Heather Clarke Tutor.

I got mine from Ossian. Here are two links. http://www.ossian.ie/ http://www.ossianusa.com/
Hope this helps.
BTW I thought the tunes were played at a slow enought pace for beginners to follow.
there are also a red and green book. i have them all, but havenāt had teh opportunity to really sit with them. for someone who is not a usual session goer i think the set arrangements are a really helpful feature.
I have the blue and orange session tunes books from ossian and I have a question. The tunes are all played on the CDās at what seems to be a āleisurely paceā compared to how I hear these tunes played in session or on commercial CDās. Is this because they are giving novices like myself a break while we learn the tunes or is this a more normal tempo for the tunes for dancing? Iām not trying to stir up the āyou play like a maniac, no I donātā pot (I do enjoy the music, fast or slow). There just isnāt a lot dancing to Irish music going on here in the wilds of Logan for me to have a live reference.
