Best online reed making instruction???

What is a good online source of reed making material?
How to make reeds? What materials and tools are needed?
Where to get said tools and materials?
I know that there are a few out there and have looked at them, but what is the recommendation?

Cheers,
Steve

I didn’t see that one before at Nick’s site. And now I know of another UP forum to hang out in.
Thanks for that info, I definitely appreciate it.

It may not be the best, but I have some reedmaking notes I took at the Swannanoa Gathering and Irish week at Elkins, WV.

Also, Google is your friend.

Patrick Sky, and Alan Burton are both mighty reed makers, in addition to contributing to this board.

Alan Burton: alan@reedshaman.co.uk

These guys KNOW what they’re doing.

As I recently quoted this I´d like to repeat it here. Joseph has mentioned Alan´s and Pat´s sites. So, just in case this gets “dropped”:

I´d say that reading this closely is a “must” for every piper as it helps to create an awareness that the “reeding” is by no means finished with the production of the reed. Unlike a whistle, a reed + chanter - combination is nothing eternal and that it is an important part of the knowledge of the piper to be able to make adjustments to the reed.

Has anyone else noticed that piperman07 is Johnny Doran? The myth continues… :boggle:

Thank you to everyone, I am going to get started soon at trying my hand at this. There is definitely a lot of good information out there.
