beginner's Bouzouki?

Hey all, I’m a whistle and accordion player and my brother is a tallented bodhran player who wants to pick up bouzouki. I took him to a local music shop that had a flat back fender bouzouki with a pickup so he could try it out. I’m looking to purchase a bouzouki for him. What is the best bouzouki I could get on a lower price range suited for Irish music? I can really only spend maybe up to 500 but I’d like to know my options. Any info would be really great. It doesn’t matter if it’s new or used. Thanks alot,
-Sean

Trinity College might be a good option at that price range:

Trinity College is about the only reliably good choice in tha price range. The Fender is OK, but too much money is spent on the pickup. Put a pickup on a TC when you’re ready to amplify it and you’ll have a much better instrument.
