be nice.....

So as I’m beginning my fiddle/whistle career I’m trying to retool my previously classical guitar style. This is my first attempt at a recorded performance so I kinda messed up on alot of the string ringings, and I dunno what I was thinking for the last couple of seconds (kinda drunk). This is the Allen Alexander arrangement of morrison’s I think…

be honest! I know the sound quality sucked but I’m trying to get ready for an open mic in a month or two, so any feedback at all would be great

(o and dont look at the other videos seriously, the drowsy maggie is barely palatable and the others are all terrible by the time we did those recordings we were 10 carbombs down)

I think that’s better than you said it was, but if you want frank, no-holds-barred advice, I’d say you’ve already identified your stumbling block. Don’t drink so much when you play. Please don’t be insulted, but you did ask, and that’s what’s wrong. Take it from a guy who has blown way too many tunes because his fingers weren’t doing what his sodden brain thought they were. I only wish someone had pointed it out earlier to me.

haha no you are definately right… we learned our lesson upon reviewing the videos… drunk jams are fun but not for recording… that come before the drinking

Yeah, just avoid carbombs. If you’re going to drink, drink like a man. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wonder if you could work in some ornamentation or otherwise break up those long notes in Morrison’s? The first part sounds a little plain; most traditional players would work in a roll or two, or do things like

EDE B3|E2B AFD …

Nice arrangements though. Good for you for putting your stuff out there.
