Bamboo whistle?

Has anyone ever tried to make a bamboo whistle? Is it possible? I have this dried piece of bamboo that keeps whispering in my ear…“I’m a whistle in hiding”. :smiley:

Any assistance in helping to realize this bamboo’s dream would be appreciated! :wink:

Best wishes,

Lots of inexpensive Indian cane whistles–if you find one in an
import store, that’s your template.

Jim,
Check out this website:

I haven’t ordered anything from them yet, but the prices seem reasonable.

I think the Indian cane whistles are usually about $7-8. My first wooden flute was one of the Indian $8 jobs (from http://www.mid-east.com/), and it was surprisingly good. You might order one and “dissect it” to see how it make one.

P.S. I have no affiliation with either business.

:cry: I killed the bamboo. It kept cracking and splitting-- perhaps too dry? Ah well, back to the bamboo forest for me…if I get brave enough to attempt this again. :boggle:

Of course there’s always that length of copper piping that’s been waiting forever and a day to become a low d. :smiley:

Thanks for the bit of advice Jim and Bob! (JimBob? Hmm…)

Best wishes,
Andrea
