For those of you who were curious: I posted a few pics on the “flooring” thread when the floor was partially installed. Here’s what it looks like with all the furniture moved back in.
To give you an idea of what it looked like before, the living/dining room and hallway had a gray/green carpet (you can see what it looks like in my avatar) and the kitchen had white vinyl.

Yep…Tony got it when they lived in the Phillipines many years ago. I’m not sure where I put the cowrie shells, however…they’re probably still in a box in the guest room.

Mine’s missing the cowrie shells too.
We still have ours, but we put them somewhere when we moved everything out for the floor installation. Tony knows where they are, though. We have to find them…we use them as counters when we play Munchkin!
BTW, congratulations…in 20 years, you’re the first person who didn’t see that board and exclaim “Oh! Mancala!”

Your house looks too cluttered for my liking. And that cat - she has to go. I am allergic to cats and they seem to love me. Oh I am feeling itchy already …
She’s a he. And my hubby’s allergic to cats too…one of the reasons for the new flooring.

Well, after four years with a cat and three with a geriatric dog, it was about half cat fur and one-quarter dog pee. It definitely had to go.

Let me think, beautiful bamboo floors (they ARE beautiful and the color seems to work great with the other woods. Great choice!), furry animals, and a husband allergic to said furry animals, hmmmmm …
My very allergic to furry animals son once brought home a himalayan cat. We had great clouds of cat fur drifting slowly over the hard wood floor.
Looking back I might have gotten a Roomba vacuum (if they were invented back then) to augment my main vacuum with a hepa filter.
Not only would it have dealt with the fur while I was out (if they work on bare floors?) but it might have kept the cat amused/freaked out as well.
Definitely an advantage in having a shorthaired cat! I just sweep once a day…takes me about 10 minutes to do the whole area…and run a dustmop once a week to get under the furniture. He’s shedding pretty heavily right now because we’re finally getting warm weather, but generally he’s not a bad shedder.
What’s neat, though, is I CAN get it all up. Even with a pretty powerful vacuum, I was never able to get up all the cat hair and dander.
