This is a Bulgarian Gaida, and I believe it’s from the Black Sea Area (Varna) as I worked
on getting a Bag on a Gaida very much like this, that is owned by a Piper in Nevada.
Vasil Bebelekov made the Reeds for this Gaida I’m taking about, and he identified it as
a Varna Gaida, and so did Hector Bezanis. I don’t know if this Gaida is by the same maker,
but it’s very much like the one I took care of.
The big problem with all Gaidas is the position and diameter of the Flea Hole at the top
of the row of Finger holes.
If it’s not right, it won’t give you all the Chromatic notes of the Scale.
The other factor is the Cone of the Bore with some of the same faults that work
in concert with the Flea Hole for the tuning of these Chromatics.
I’m not in the market for this Gaida myself, SO…
