I don’t know if this was mentioned before, but I can remember on transatlantic flights and trans-costal flights, using either my water bottle, or a chanter to “play along” w. my ipod during the flight. The vPipes’d be a huge improvement! Also, trips to work on the metrorail as well…
Has anyone one this list PLAYED this isntrument? If so, give us a review…and to tell how much the device that acts as the bag, weighs?
ps Oh wait, my good friend Jeff mentioned that bit about the plane. Okay, what about playing during the slumber of a light sleeping girlfriend, wife, etc? Also, perhaps since it’s midi, could I now play my transcriptions (that appear in the Review, etc.) in realtime to a click instead of using the keyboard? hmmmmm?
I’d suggest using my Miditina app and an ad-hoc WiFi network with a soft-synth running on the laptop with an Uilleann pipes patch, but the airlines don’t allow WiFi during flight… PipeKeys and Uillitina both allow playing along in headphones with the music on the iPhone/iPod Touch.
The vPipes should be shipping out later this month. I’m sure they’ll be plenty of reviews when the start arriving. While no replacement for a set of pipes, I think there are quite a few applications for them especially in situations like travel when it’s not possible to bring a set along. I know when I travel I really start missing the practice.
And if anyone receives their set and after a few months of beating them up and not being happy with them, speaking as one hoping they actually are a replacement for a set of pipes, I’d be happy to take them off your hands as a backup set. The one hitch in the product I expect to be the shortage of backup parts and supplies, and/or the speed at which these can be obtained.
Assuming I’m happy with my own vPipes when they arrive that is.
