Anyone playing for Easter?

Actually it wasn’t a personal falling out. More of a doctrinal falling out on my part.

There’s more but I don’t have time to bore everyone with it at the moment.

I played flute, whistle & sang at our Easter services on Sunday.

We did a piece ‘In Christ Alone’ & I used whistle in some parts (flute in others due to the key). Very nice piece for use of whistle & flute, for sure! Besides that I mostly sang, with some flute here & there.

Hope all had a happy resurrection day! Happy Easter!

It wasn’t specifically for Easter, but I did play for the first time at my church (a small home-based fellowship group, about 15 people present). Played whistle and alto recorder (trying to get in a range people could actually sing) [not at the same time]. It’s also the first time I’ve ever played for a group “officially” (instead of just practicing in the background). Shudder!

I do a GHB Palm sunday processional for the Episcopalians, and my wife’s Brass Quintett (she plays French Horn) does the Lutheran’s Easter morning high Mass. We’re happy doing just these two.
In past we’ve both gigged on every possible holiday: Thursday night, Friday afternoon, and those interminable midnite Vigil Masses (complete with the litany of 1001 saints…) plus sunrises.

I’ve done that one with my congregation as well. Our music director gave me a recording of it a couple years ago and said “see what you can do with it” and we’ve done it every year since.
