Anybody Here Have a Milligan in A or Bb?

Was wondering if anyone on the forum had a Gene Milligan whistle in A or Bb, what material it is made out of, and how you like the whistle? Any other information pertaining to the whistle and it’s characteristics would be of interest. Thanks for anyninformation provided.

Hi Again Cayden,

I just took delivery of a Milligan in A. It’s black diamond wood and it’s lovely. Finger spacing is very comfortable, it plays nicely in tune and has a very mellow tone. Plays easily in the second octave without any “shrillness” and seems to hold intonation well. I must say I haven’t tried it with the trio yet as I’ve only had it a couple of days.

I also have a tweaked Freeman in A, and a Susato in A. The Milligan is much more pleasing to my ear, the the reach is about the same as the Freeman but a lot more comfortable than the Susato. It’s louder than the freeman, which to me seems to be a little choked compared to my other Freeman’s but it’s not as loud as the Susato.

I ordered it last week and Gene had it on hand. Best thing I can say about it is that “it’s a Milligan”.
