Another tax day survived.

I can’t quite see your point? The guy is obviously breaking the law, and if caught it’s a major case of tax fraud and he’ll very likely do time in a federal pen (when my wife was pregnant with our first she had to find a new obstetrician because hers got sent to the big house halfway through the pregnancy for this very thing).

So, you might as well complain that the guy who sticks up the local liquor store is costing you money, because he is. Crime is crime.

Finally, if you know about this and haven’t reported it then you are just as much at fault as he is (not in terms of facing a prison sentence but in moral terms). The IRS does have a tip line for these things you know… Granted, it’s not your responsibility to investigate it, but it is your responsibility as a citizen to report it so the IRS can investigate it. If you don’t report it you certainly don’t have any right to complain about it!

Not that I love the tax man, but it strikes me as kind of wierd to blame tax fraud on the IRS when you haven’t reported the fraud.

I guess my sarcastic side doesn’t come through in my posts. 1) Would you report a big hairy guy from New Yawk named Vinny? His uncles name is Carmine and yes they’re Sicilian. 2) My point was to highlight the short comings in our current tax system. Obviously I failed because I pissed you off. 3) My last point was to bitch. Period. I’m allowed because my taxes feed a good many less fortunate families(read lazy) on the other side of town. They’d better hope nothing happens to me or they’ll starve. 4) Lighten up! I think the IRS got the idea from the KGB and Gestapo who also had hotlines for good law abiding tipsters.

just significantly poorer Brian Mac

Oh, I wasn’t pi$$ed, Brian, sorry if I came off that way. I just found it kind of a silly attitude.

Re. item 2) my point was that you didn’t highlight the shortcomings of the tax system so much as the shortcomings of citizens who are too apathetic and/or timid (gotta confess timid didn’t occur to me until your response) to actually do anything.

Re. item 3) I agree wholeheartedly.

Re. item 4) - watch out for those black helicopters circling over your house

Re. item 1) you bet yer backside I’d report Vinny. First, it’s an anonymous tip line, (call from a payphone if you’re really paranoid). Second, even if it weren’t anonymous I’d report Vinny - I’m probably as well armed as he is and I’d welcome the opportunity to “defend myself” against somebody who needs killin’ - sicillian or not

BTW, for the record, I’ve had a couple of battles with the IRS that were not at all pleasant, so I certainly have no love for them.

Actually those black helicopters can be hard to get into your crosshairs.
I’m really not afraid to turn him in. I have a significant arsenal in my gun closet from .50 cal to .22 cal. I’m pretty sure my house disrupts magnetized instrumentation due to the large steel mass in my gun closet. And Yes I too sometimes go to Walmart late at night hoping some low life tries to carjack me or take my wallet. I look at that as quality target practice.

just 1/2 MOA Brian Mac

Whew, Mark – I’ll never get that good on the whistle. Guess I’ll just load up on Sweetones & Megs, take them to a couple of festivals – THEN write off the Silkstone, Water Weasel, etc. as “demo aids”, plus all the other extras.
