i’ve just seen the american news on the bbc 24 hour news channel and there’s a replica Titanic being built - the most expensive tickets are going to go for $1m
I don’t know if there was actually an uilleann piper except for in the film but I think there’s going to be great scope for a piper and his/her band to get some highly-paid work in a luxury setting, especially for the launch (it beats the P & O from Holyhead to Rosslare).
If anyone gets the gig they can buy me a drink one day…
There actually was an Uilleann Piper who sailed on the titanic.
His name was Eugene Daly, and was a survivor.
Apparently he got a $50 refund for the loss of his pipes. But said pipes were said to have been salvaged. But they have turned out to have been parts of a clarinet. But I wonder if the actual pipes may be down there to still be found?
