I Recently bought a Clarke original after reading recent posts about them,
and i have to say i just love it, a simple sealing of the plug with bees wax was all that was necessary to tweak it to perfection,
I was slightly breathless however, boy its gunna improve my lung capasity, but i see that as a good thing, i dont really want to mash down the windway, so as an experiment i tryed a bit of lateral thinking with some very interesting results.
i cut about 1 inch off the end of a drinking straw and placed it into the mouthpiece / windway, and simply blew into the straw,
i had to adjust the depth of the straw to get its best effect,
the result was less air required, but the most noticeable effect was it quietened the whistle and made it even more “breathy” then it was.
The next step was to try the same with my feadog and generation whistles,
, it markedly reduced the noise output and made these whistles slightly breathy also, quite a different effect, and not altogether unpleasant,
My reason for posting this “discovery” was due to having read some posts in the past concerning how to reduce the noise of whistles, maybe this could help,
Its just a bit of fun to experiment
Regards
David
