You need those special red 14" platform shoes, dood. Then, you click your heels together three times and say “There’s no place like home, man, can you diggit?”
I cannot actually walk in platform shoes. And, unfortunately, in the following pic, I’m wearing very wet sneakers. We try to fit everything in carry on luggage…didn’t bring my Tevas.
I was in Boulder, visiting a bro-in-law. He and his gf are in the right side of pic…I’m behind hubby on the left (actually starboard, if you consider the raft,) on the Arkansas River. (Muscles, in the stern, is the guide.)
noooo, i meant the guy on the left, and I now see that the arm thing is a left calf of the women back left, but i still don’t know whom that severed hand belongs to..
Right. The arm thing is, in fact, my left calf. The disembodied hand belongs to my kid Gabe, age 12. He had not yet grown comfortable with the idea that a pitch of the raft might send him overboard, and was sitting dead center on the floor. Unfortunately, therefore, he did not appear in any of the available pics. Except for his hand that is.
Did not see any dangerous hillbillies, Stacey. Nor did we bring a banjo. Or a guitar.(And really Gary, would you risk losing an Abell, Burke, or Alba in the Arkansas River?) My girls, 14, 15, and 17, were in another raft with a cute 19 year old guide with a cowboy hat. That seemed to suit them.
Jake: [fakes accent] How much for the little girl? How much for the women?
Man: What?
Jake: Your women. I want to buy your women. The little girl, your daughters… sell them to me. Sell me your children.
Sorry, just the way you said your daughters where with the raft guide in some off beat way reminded me of the blues brothers. I could not help it.
A Generation! A cheapy Generation! Just think how Cooool that photo would’ve been if there you were, beaming away, playing a Gen. in all that white water! It would’ve made the cover of Time! Or at least the C&F Newsletter.
And! It would’ve spawned a whole new sport! Extreme Whistling! We’d have shots of Amar clinging to some alpine peak noodling away on a Chieftain Low D, Bloomie launching himself over a crevasse on a snowboard while tootling an Overton, Zoob playing a recorder whilst tureen de France-ing… so many endless possibilities!
And Dale! Dale suspending himself on meat hooks whilst playing a Planxty on an elderwood whistle as the coastguard look on in awe!
