Hi.
I’m pretty much a new low whistler (I prefer the sound of the low)- and I was wondering what would be good choices for airs (aires) to learn. 
BTW, airs is correct. You can lose the parentheses.

Is Scarborough Fair and Air?! Who cares! Scarborough Fair sounds good on Low D. She moved through the fair is OK as well.

Is there a special fingering to get those seagull sounds? I’ve tried and tried, but even on my fanciest whistle, the best I can manage is a booby or a double-crested cormorant. Very frustrating.
yeah lovley if you can make your way round the sharps and flats or drill an extra hole!
my advice is to play it in e major, on a d whistle, that way you only have one accadental to worry about and you can still get the natural leading note pivot thing.
I to am intrestedin picking up more air(e)s, i have trouble memorising them though 
Hmm … The setting I know is a simple Mixolydian melody. Which works fine on whistle in A Mix (2 sharps), or D Mix (1 sharp) if you don’t mind folding the low C-nat up an octave.
It is really lovely on the low whistle that one… you should definitely try it! I have
‘Scarborough fair’ was one of my first tunes and I still enjoy it. ‘She moved through the fair’ is a more recent addition to my own growing repotoire (spelling), and although still being played sans ornamentation at this stage, it sounds quite nice. No complaints from family friends or neighbours anyway.

I think you can generally pick any song you like. Airs are often (somewhere I head that always) based on songs.
But airs are not that easy as they’d seem, I think Maybe polkas would be good starter tunes as well (and they can really cook, even though sometimes not hard to play).
