With TuneDB still out of action (such a pity), does anyone know if there are any other tune identifiers that will allow you to type in a phrase in abc, and return a list of possible tunes that it could be?
Thanks,
Pamela

http://www.thesession.org/ accepts ABC snippets in the advanced search.

Thanks, I hadn’t realized that you could do that at The Session - but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem as sensitive as TuneDB was, or it doesn’t have as big a database to search, because I tried 3 different phrase fragments and didn’t get anything back.
I heard some great jigs at our local session and would like to know what they’re called!
Thanks,
Pamela
The best ABC tune identifiers are Internet groups with lots of people looking at them. Why not post the fragments here?

Okay, here’s a fragment of the A part followed by a fragment of the B part - it’s a jig, Scottish or Irish… (Capitals for lower octave, small letters for upper octave / F’s are all sharp):
FF GFG Adfa gfef BC#deC#AFE
FFF GFG Adfa gfegeC#egC#d
fgafdd Cnat BGFG FEGBedC#AG#A
I’d love to know what it is!
Pamela
Don’t think I know that one. Might be something I’d recognize if I heard it. (I’m having a bit of trouble parsing your ABC into beats, which makes it hard for me to play coherently.)
Maybe one of the others?
here’s two more http://www.fojar.com/~steve/abctostaff/
