I lost a very dear friend this weekend. Debby Libey was an incredibly positive person and a wonderful friend. Cancer. I will be whistling in her memory today.

I played “By the Side of the Rock” at my aunt’s graveside funeral last weekend.

annie, I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. I’ve been spared this experience so far and I can’t even imagine how painful it must be.
It was a beautiful service… very Catholic, but then, so was she, LOL… I cried, I laughed, I saw old friends… it was nice… when I got home, I played Si Bheag, Si Mhor and women of Ireland on the low whistle… I will miss that woman!
We’ve decided that we will start a memorial garden for our annual (may be becoming semi-annual) Redwall inspired Feast… should prove to be a good thing.

Good choice. I’d play either that or Wayfaring Stranger, or both, if I played at a funeral. Or possibly Poor Irish Boy. That’s hauntingly beautiful.
