88 members of Congress call on Bush about secret memo

Yeah, c’mon, Si, having an ideology that can be generally described is one thing. Saying an entire group within it are living in a state of untruth is throwing Liberacrap. Nyuk.

Did you forget to take your medication or something? Lighten up – it was a wize crack. I guess it struck a raw nerve with you though huh? Probably because there is a certain amount of truth to it – but it was never to be taken as seriously as you have.

What’d I do, besides be misinterpreted?

Now this is exactly the sort of pompous arrogance Americans are infamous for. No other country can possibly have anything legitimate like a newspaper of course (like we do). The US mainstream press is propaganda for the most part, as demonstrated over and over, and you’re now dismissing the Tehran Times as untrue probably because it’s from one of Bush’s “Axis of Evil” countries. If your news sources weren’t so limited you might realize that there are newspapers and media beyond the US borders that are capable of being everything the US press is or isn’t.

My point in posting out the article is that it was an example of how closely the US is being monitored regarding the possible planting of WMDs in Iraq. Whether it was true or not had nothing to do with the point, but that doesn’t automatically mean it wasn’t true… unless you happen to be a Conservative of course.

Now look what you’ve done, you’ve united the Democrats and Republicans on Iraq.

OK, Walden.

You can come out, now.

Best wishes,
Jerry

hooray

These are butts that are better covered…

Wasn’t that France… or Greece? I thought that we were a bit Puritanical for that sort of thing!

Dude? s1m0n, come on… its 2005 already.

Jerry, :astonished: interesting visual!

Denny

I enjoyed the image. But Walden had been there long enough, so I let him out. Now it’s just Simon, JGilder and Lorenzo.

Best wishes,
Jerry

I apologize for breaking up your poker game. Can you play three handed?

Best wishes,
Jerry

Which implies Rule #2: everything wrong that happens in Washington is the fault of an overzealous staffer.

If we just track down that overzealous staffer and ship him to Canada, we’d have the most ethical government in the world.

I said no such thing. I commented on your grounds for objection, not jgilder’s accusation.

~~

You may object to such a characterization (made by someone else), but your stated grounds for objecting–that it’s wrong to accuse a group defined by shared ideology of “monolithic thinking” is nonsense.

Shared ideology is precisely monolithic thinking.

~~

And what exactly do you mean by “liberacrap”, if not to make exactly the kind of slur you have (falsely) accused me of commiting?

It’s said tongue-in-cheek.

Dude.

If any other theocratic type of state, with a history of censorship, violent repercussions on journalists, etc etc were espousing, through their press, a view you disagreed with, you would be the FIRST to discount it.

As for being closely watched: when are you going to post the possible numerous Islamic press accounts that Israel was responsible for 9/11?Not sure if the good ol Tehran Times picked it up, maybe it was just Egyptian press and AlJazeera.

Give me a break. It’s pompous arrogance because you would like to believe it to reinforce your Bush-Boogeyman creed.

PS. Noted that Iran HAS been trying for reform, is NOT Arabic, etc etc. Also, I do check out furrin’ newspapers at Borders if they have English editions on a regular basis. Shocking!!!

Sure, you tend tonight at the Plough and the Stars? I’ll have The Cup of Tea, that way I can drink and play at the same time. What instrument you play’n, flute? You have a B flute by any chance?

pssst…Jerry’s been standing at the window again, looking at the big trucks.

Simon, Liberacrap was in reference to Sfx’s “Americrap” gag from yesterday. A gag.

And no, let’s agree to disagree that those who fall under the conservative tent practice monolithic thinking. I truly disagree. There is not a party creed and loyalty oath, fercrynoutloud. That’s Marx with his Manifesto on another end of the political spectrum. I occassionally listen to rightwinghateradio and there is most definitely a variety of opinions that will not fit in anybody’s neat little box.

Frankly, I think people enjoy putting others in boxes because it makes them feel that their argument is strengthened and makes them feel superior. I also think that a lot of people have ended up in a conservative camp because they felt it was their only recourse to salvage some link of American culture to religion, or specific kinds of morality. You can go ahead and use the word reactionary if you want. That was big in the 60s, because not everybody wanted to tune in and drop out. Having seen the personal destiny and larger social legacy of many who did drop out, including their progeny, the reactionaries don’t seem so bad or delusional, now.

I’ve heard you stay up late listening to Berney Ward

Ain’t nobody gonna take my “What kinda political varmit are you?” quiz?

I’ll be at the Plough tonight, yes. I’ll have both of my toys with me.

(Can someone please give Weakenders his medication before he hurts himself?)
