Just so all of you poets know, posting poems here may constitute publication for purposes of First Rights etc if you have any aspirations of later submitting them to literary/poetry journals. Same goes if you post them on your own blog or website. You MAY post them at online workshops with password protected membership for the purposes of critique and commentary.
Last Saturday I played whistle while the ashes of a kinsman and poet were put in the New River where he loved to fish. His grandmother requested I do this and I was reluctant but agreed to it. I am glad I did. Several of his works of poetry were read by friends and family. I had no idea how good his writing was. I would love to post something of his here, but have not found out yet if it is permissible. It was very very sad and a great loss. He was a truly gifted and brilliant writer who died by his own hand at 30.
I don’t know. I am planning on asking his grandmother the next time I see her. (she’s a writer too, but not of poetry) His writings may already be published for all I know. I didn’t ask at the ceremony.
