Oh, and PS…you guys have to make Justine sing a tune or two down there during a session or something. She has probably the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard.
As the SCUPC treasurer, I’d like to put in a personal plea for tionól attendees to send in their registrations on or before Sept. 14th. I’m going to be travelling the 2nd half of the month and don’t want things to get lost in the mail.
Just confirmed: Fiddler Kevin Crehan will be joining us on the Saturday of the tionól to teach a workshop.
Please spread the word to all your fiddle playing friends!
If anyone can recommend a fiddling message board to post this please let me know or jsut pass it along, thanks.
Bio:
Kevin comes to us from the Co. Wexford, Ireland. He is a member of one of Ireland’s most illustrious musical families, a grandson of the late Junior Crehan. Kevin thoroughly imbibed not only the repertoire of his grandfather, including Junior’s many wonderful compositions, but also the lovely old-fashioned “Clare style” of playing them. Kevin released his first recording, “An Bhabog sa Bhadog”, in 2001 to great critical acclaim. It contains a number of rare traditional tunes, including many composed by Junior Crehan.
The Saturday night concert is one of the best intimate concert venues I’ve ever experienced as som eof you will attest that were there before or have heard the “7 Years of Listening” CD. There’s no need for amplification. Performing along with this years teachers will be sean nós singer Lillis O Laoire. This is measuring up to be a truly amazing weekend!
Anyway, to comment on PJ’s response. As an engineering geologist in So. Cal., that doesn’t sound like a Worst Case Scenario. Hopefully, when it happens, it wont be that bad, but it can be worse.
Congratulations Justine on the new set. My kids will probably hang around you again, just as a warning.
