We’re going through a creative phase over on the fiddle forum, and I thought I’d share this tune what we just wrote with you guys. Originally written in C, I’ve transposed to G so it fits on a D whistle.
If you’re wondering which bit I wrote, it was the last six bars.
For those who prefer sheetmusic or sounds, cut this out and paste it here:
http://www.concertina.net/tunes_convert.html
Then hit submit.
Why can’t I get this to work?
I paste the ABC into the text box, click “submit,” and get the sheet music just fine. Then when I click “Play MIDI,” WinAmp opens and plays the piece normally except for one thing. There’s no sound! Are the people at Concertina.net in cahoots with John Cage? WinAmp and RealPlayer both work fine for anything else I try.
Best wishes,
Jerry
Martin, did you get your message the other day?
B~
Hey cool! It works! Best yet it’s a creative work from folks on the forum. And of course you will be kind and play it in person for us folks around here while on your whirlwind trip through the intermountain west… yes,
please? MIDI’s are handy but just never do a tune justice.
Sara
(sorry Jerry, have no idea why you can’t get it to work
)
Very Very pretty tune,
I just added it to my must learn to play list
Thanks heaps
David
Um … Martin? This is an on-topic post. I think you must have the wrong forum.
Seriously, though, thanks. That’s a lovely tune.
Best,
Little John
Sweet! I like it… would you mind if I passed this out to everyone at the local hoolie here and we put it on our CD next month? We would obviously put title and credits to the song in the list and mail you a copy if you like. It’s a very informal CD… mono, but good quality recordings of the sessions. We pick and choose the best tunes to come out and I cut and edit them burn out a CD. That’s it.
We make a CD once a month or so and everybody gets a copy. I will then take 5 extra copies to the local 'Wee Irish Corner gift shop and let them sell them and the proceeds go into buying more blank CD’s and stuff for the sessions. (we’re up to at least 10-15 people every Monday night and at least once a month we hit close to 20)
If not, do not hesitate to say no. Just asking. Very nice tune, I can just hear it in my mind with the whole session playing along.
Take care,
John
Hi John,
Please feel free to go ahead, I’d love to think people are enjoying it!
What we’ve been doing on the fiddle forum over the last few weeks is multiple composition - one person starts a tune with a bar or two, then someone else adds a couple of bars, and so it goes until the tune is complete. It’s suprising how someone else will take a tune in a direction you didn’t anticipate, and so it develops beyond what one could do alone. Plus it’s a lot of fun.
All our tunes are public domain, feel free to visit!
