I can already play bodrahn :stuck_out_tongue:

Im not buying it.

get someone to teach you, or go to a workshop.

much better than a boring cd-rom

Steven,

I’m sure the madfortrad cd is good, but you might also try these:

although I agree with John that there’s no substitute for a teacher (not even a substitute teacher, which I was for awhile :stuck_out_tongue: ) I know that a bodhran teacher may not be easy to find where you live. I was able to learn some basics from the Hannigan video, although my whistle/flute teacher also played the bodhran (and fiddle, and banjo, and bouzouki, etc), so she taught me a few things as well, even though I decided not to (try to) become a bodhran player after all (the crowd stands and cheers). good luck all the same.

The Mad for Trad tutor is about as good as you can get for a non-person teacher. It is definately a step up from a lot of the video ones in that it helps teach you to keep your rhythms from being monotonous while staying with the format of the songs.

Oh Steve. Oh Steve Steve Steve… :frowning:

Has Amar seen this post??
