wretched

I just want to say that DayQuil has to be the most wretched-tasting substance known to man.

Thank you.

Tom

Worse than Ovaltine?!?!? :boggle:

You did not try the white wine I had in Amman, Jordan in 1982.

I once had a bag of dried cuttlefish that was pretty bad, I had a fishy taste in my mouth all day. Once I was dared to drink a mixture of pickle juice and milk, that was pretty bad too. Iranian doogh is pretty nasty too (tastes like carbonated sour milk, because that is what it is). If you mixed those in with DayQuil so that the curdled milk and bubbles helped to suspend the cuttlefish bits, maybe the bad tastes would cancel out.

When I was young, my older sisters kindly gave me a glass of chocolate milk to drink.

“Wow! For me? Thanks!” SSSPPEEEWWWW!!!

Turns out it was a mixture of water, mud, Worcestershire sauce and other ingredients known only to my sisters. Mom made them clean up the mess I made.

grog - me boys - grog

(the kind they make you drink when undergoing initiations, NOT the kind pirates partake in)

Ovaltine would be worth the taste if they still gave out the Little Orphan Annie secret decoder ring, via mail order.

Yes, DayQuil is vile. I have to say, though, that cod liver oil is right up there, too. Or was.

Captain Midnight 's Secret Squadron Decoder Badge was the ticket for me. I still like Ovaltine.

If DayQuil came with one of those Cap’n Midnight things, well, that would make me feel a lot better.

The knock off version of Nyquil is even worse.

When I was a kid, I would give my younger brother a glass full of the liquid from the can of black olives and tell him it was cola. When he got wise to that trick, I put the liquid in a pop bottle. Was I a horrible older brother or what?

Worst taste ever…communion wine right after having sucked on a Cepacol lozenge. Occupational hazard of being a chorister. Tongue on the carpet time!

I’ve tasted lots and lots of things over the course of my lifetime. The worst I can ever recall was some cantaloupe candy I had in Manila. I like the muskmelons just fine, but somehow when made into a sweetened condensed milk candy it is beyond description.

Gee, now I don’t feel so guilty about feeding my much-younger cousin dog kibbles, telling her it was a new brand of pretzels.

She liked 'em.

Geritol is bad. way bad.

When i was younger, some friends talked me into a big spoonful of liquid fish emulsion fertilizer. Of course, they called it something else - butterscotch, maybe?? It was seriously nasty.

Chinese medicinal tea is nicely gagriffic.

If you’ve got a second, check out the quick myspace video for Buckley’s. http://www.myspace.com/buckleys When giving this medicine to my kids, I consider it to be child abuse. But it works.

OK, you know how some foods are nasty at first, but after having it over a period of time you start to get used to it? Maybe even like it?

DayQuil is NOT like that. :imp:

Thank you for giving me other happy things to think about, though.

I found something worse than DayQuil…Mr Izz went to the Co-Op and bought me some loose tea (you know, the kind you make in a bone fide teapot), because I’m all out of my good stuff (the stuff from London…the stuff from the US is complete chud). So, anyway…he bought this loose tea, and today I made a pot full of it. It has got to be the absolute worst stuff I’ve ever had, and that includes Earl Grey, which I despise. It’s called Lapsang Souchong…if I were to compare it to something, I would have to say it tastes like what I would imagine boiled rubber tastes like :stuck_out_tongue: Truly vile. And, no, I don’t think I could ever get used to the taste of this stuff. You can’t even get past the smell (and my whole kitchen was…ahem…steeped in that lovely odor).

So, I’ve bested you. I’d rather have DayQuil than that stuff, hands down.

Ooooo! I looooove lapsang!

You’re right! It tastes like burning rubber tires smell. That is because it is smoked over pine fires or some such thing.

I have suspected a few purveyors of having supplemented the pine with a few actual old tires, but it’s a thing of beauty nonetheless.

And I’m currently quite out of it.
