All these years on and I can’t recall us ever visitng this vital issue before. One of the greatest things about the transient frivolity of fashion is the laugh it give us later. Wait a minute, that’s the only good thing about it.
So post your candidates for the most tragic hairstyles of all time to this thread. I’ll start the ball rolling with the late, great Esquerita.

Dusty’s gotta be right up there. Again, any period will do but you can’t beat the early days. Remember beehives?
We’re not making fun of the people. (I happen to love Esquerita and Dusty Springfield as artists. Rod Stewart was listenable once too.) We’re laughing at the fashions. Well, that was my intention. The quickest way to find great hairstyles is to remember the famous people who had them.
Besides, you’d never win with that hairstyle Cran.

Most tragic? I’m torn…There’s the mullet: especially frightening in the female of the species.
And then, I just never could stand the Flip; especially when it goes bad. Really…bad.
..but for tragic, you have to consider this poor guy, who has some sort of hideous alien arthropod on his head.
I knew the mullet would have its fans. I actually think Rod Stewart has been trying to get a proper mullet for years.

It depends on the flip. They can be quite attractive, if not overdone. Case in point: Joanne Hogg of Iona (at left in photo).
