The comments about the Eastern US being more Irish areas is definitely true—historically, that part of the US is quite Irish. Same with eastern Canada. Newfoundland and the St. Lawrence river system have a large Irish population, if I’m not mistaken.
Mississippi, the Dakotas, Wyoming, Idaho, Alberta, Saskatchewan, you need a piper.
& I understand how the Canadian high arctic may not be the ideal setting for a Tionol.
Nevada, Im certain your piper is busy playing slots right now.
but West Virginia? Nova Scotia? Piper-less?? un-be-lievable. all those fiddlers and not a single piper?
You can’t really be serious in calling Nova Scotia piperless–that would be taking uilleann chauvinism to a new extreme. Do ye no realize wha’ that name translates teh…laddie?
Ryan McNiell of the Cape Breton band Beolach performs on GHP, border pipes and whistles but he plays remarkably well on uilleann pipes http://www.beolach.com/bios/bio-ryan.htm
The pins on the map are only by those who frequent “the other” UP forum, so there is nowhere near a true representation of makers or players on the map. I don’t believe it was ever the intention to advertise anyone’s location on the map unless they put it there themselves.
