I just got my first whistles (sweetone and little black) and the instruction book. Finally time to start learning 
It’s fun, you can definitely hear the difference in sound between the two, but I like them both.

Don’t be this drastic, but get as much time in as you can.
If you work, ring in sick to gain extra playing time !!!

Just wait… it gets better and better!
First time you get through an entire tune will be a big thrill. First session is an amazing experience-- try to find a local session NOW, and just sit there and absorb the music by osmosis. It will really give you a feel for what it is that you are trying to learn.

Um. In my case, the journey began with several bad notes. But I got good notes fairly soon, and that was kewl.

Ooh, and another little woohoo for me finally hitting the high B in Danny Boy. (dear gods that’s difficult). Although it must’ve been a freak accident. Now I just get headaches again from my attempts
I’ll keep on practising, with my free days at the moment I’m getting at least 2 hours a day in.
