woohoo! it starts to "click"!!!!!!!!

having been fooling around with the whistle since last summer and lessons started this year march…
now FINALLY it starts to “click” in my head…meaning, that I all of a sudden seem to get at that particular point, where my fingers actually DO what I do WANT them to do, be it cuts, ,rolls…
not at the full speed yet but with practice I will get there.
I KNOW!!! My thanks go to that forum member who was kind enough to take time and patience to explain me a few things, and to grey larsen for his wonderful book, where you find this great tips that get you really on the way.

Few weeks ago, I was thinking would NEVER learn those ornamentations but now the beginnings are made, I have confidence for the future.
WOOOHOOOO!!! doing happy dance!!!

so, practice…be patient with yourself and it will come together one day all by itself…

Ah ha! It’s finger twitches in rhythm, not a bunch of notes strung toghether! I remember that moment after a long time of being told of it but nothing clicked.

Next, you can think of tunes going “up and down” rather than something going sidewize with a string of notes and lots of more things will click.

Now you have a choice of playing a bunch of notes or a roll where you were playing a long 'un before. Now try playing so that you “suprise the listener” when you play the same thing diffenently each time.

Learn tunes by ear and I think variations actually pop out and “surprise the player”. I have found that it’s common that you can’t remember ear learned tune names for some strange reason. They end up being named "is that that tune the one that goes dah-ti-dah dum diddly-dah dee dah-di-dah dum da ti? (I think that that might be the Banshee Reel, but who knows/cares?)
