Can anyone help ? I’d like to find a D whistle with the same feel as the Clarke’s whistle with the wooden mouthpiece - but, louder and tuneable. I’ve tried the Shaw whistles which are OK, but I would really like to tune them and play them a bit louder, maintaining the woody ,breathy feel. Any suggestions , please ?

Hmmm… How about a Thin Weasel? It’s pretty chiffy with a wooden plug. But that’s about as far as I’d take in relating it to a Clarke.
The fipple (if by that term, you mean the little plug) of a Weasel is no longer wood-- Glenn used to use cedar, but switched to some sort of exotic polymer for more stability. Rest of the whistle is still wood with stainless steel fittings.
