Wooden Bb whistle

I am on the lookout for a nice wooden Bb, anyone got any recommendations,or first hand experience.
Abell, McManus ,Bleazey, etc

Tommy Dion makes an excellent olive wood whistle.

Yes, I’ll second the Tommy Dion wooden whistle. I don’t have his Bb but I do have his low A in olive wood. The craftsmanship is wonderful and the whistle is spot on in tune with that warm woody tone. Wood is where its at! And Tommy is a pleasure to deal with.

Not wood, but a very wood like response from Carbony. My Bb is one of my recent faves, excellent on both high and low. If you contact Rob he can explain far better than me why his eco friendly carbon material has similar audio characteristics to wood. Unlike wood it’s almost indestructible.

If you can find a Glenn Schultz Thin Weasel Bb, buy it. I have one and it’s maybe the single best whistle I’ve ever played-- any maker, any key

Hi there,
I can give one piece of information on Bleazey. I bought a flute from him a few years ago (long drive north to his home) and the one thing I didn’t look at before getting home was the internal bore; it was horrible! It appeared to be completely unfinished. Now whether or not this was an error, or whether perhaps he just doesn’t bother about finishing his bores, I don’t know. Perhaps other owners can chip in?

p.s. After I’d had time to play it a bit more, I decided it wasn’t as impressive as the price might have indicated, and sold it on fleabay at a huge loss.

Thanks for the info guys.
Need to mull it over for a while yet.

I have a Bleazey low D,its a super whistle witha smooth bore,i have no problems with it.

If only i could.
I have one of Glenn’s “A” whistles in cocobolo, and like you say,it is probably the best i have ever played.

I noticed no one recommended Abell, though it was mentioned in the OP. I am considering an Abell in Bb. Any reason to reconsider?
