Articles that make you think, “Hmmm…”

LAS VEGAS – The woman who claims she bit into a human finger while eating chili at a Wendy’s restaurant has a history of filing lawsuits – including a claim against another fast-food restaurant.
Anna Ayala, 39, who hired a San Jose, Calif., attorney to represent her in the Wendy’s case, has been involved in at least a half-dozen legal battles in the San Francisco Bay area, according to court records.
She brought a suit against an ex-boss in 1998 for sexual harassment and sued an auto dealership in 2000, alleging that the wheel fell off her car. That suit was dismissed after Ayala fired her lawyer, who said she had threatened him.

… yup, I suspecteed as much when I first read that story roughly a week ago… some people! No wonder our legal system is so bogged down, fraudulent suits gumming up the works I suppose.
Wow! I didn’t realize our local story had become national!
Everyone down here in the South bay is talking about this one. The consensus amoung my friends was that a disgruntled employee somehow got ahold of a human finger from a morgue or something and put it in the chili to ruin the business.
But this new story throws a whole new light on the matter…
J.
Now they’re trying to determine where the finger came from.
They checked all the Wendy’s employees, all of whom had a full complement of fingers and toes.
I liked the part where they searched Ayala’s freezers, a picnic cooler in the backyard and the belongings of an aunt who used to live at the house. (Starting to get creepy . . . . wonder where the aunt is . . . )
Using impeccable grammar, a police spokesman said “The simple fact of the matter is that the finger came from somebody. Where’s that person at?”
-From here on in being given “the finger” will carry new possible meaning…
-also gives a new twist to “Finger Food”
This woman has decided not to sue. They still don’t know where the finger is. It’s thought that this woman may actually have had a hand in it somehow.
I think you’ve put your finger on it, Lorenzo!
This whole story smacks of her finger print.
Probably going out on a limb here, but I think you’ve hit the nail on the head.
That sounds a little calloused.
They still don’t know where the finger is.
Wait…she never gave the cops the finger?
Leopard handler believes finger in chili is hers

April 14, 2005 — Police in California say they’re checking out a possible lead in the case involving an allegedly contaminated bowl of Wendy’s chili. A woman claims she found a finger in a bowl of chili at Wendy’s. Investigators say a leopard handler believes the finger could be hers.
San Jose police are investigating the case of a woman who lost part of her finger in a leopard attack. The woman, who has several exotic animals, reportedly got the finger back in a bag of ice, after doctors couldn’t re-attach it. She lives in a town about 45 miles north of Las Vegas.
A month after that attack, a Las Vegas woman reported biting into a human finger while eating a bowl of Wendy’s chili. The woman decided not to sue.
Wendy’s has maintained the finger allegedly found in the chili didn’t enter the supply chain as part of its ingredients.
Ha. She’ll be caught red handed no doubt.
