Wolverines in California

Here’s a shot recently captured by a heat-sensing automatic camera in the Sierras.

“It would be fantastic if it’s a real California wolverine because they are a genetically distinct group that was probably isolated at least 2,000 years and possibly 12,000 years ago,” Sartorius said. “That would be a pretty important find.”

that’s no wolverine. That’s Bigfoot!!

Seriously, its quite a story. A lot of very remote country north of Truckee.

snickety-snick, shall I call you Logan, weapon X?

How can they tell what it is???

ah, just seemed likely?
or, click piccy

Click it where? I clicked on the wolverine, on the brown stuff it’s standing on, on the sky . . . nothing!

He must just be a glutton for publicity.

I looked up wolverine on Wikipedia. It had the wolverines being in the Sierra Nevada as recently as the 1850’s.

I thought all of the wolverines left California after SC beat them in the Rose Bowl a few years back.

Ack! s1m0n’s…the OP

Wolverines are the coolest of all the weasels. If there had been one or two of them about, the battle of Toad Hall would have turned out very differently.

:boggle:

Drat! You beat me to the Michigan quip.

I wonder who’d win between a wolverine and a badger.

:boggle:

So are these a new species or a subspecies or how does that work?
