Willie Week...Still the Bomb, or Now an Annoying Bust?

Congrats! Online dating is probably just about the same as blind dating, with some pen-pal work beforehand thrown in…ie: hit and miss  Glad to see it’s worked for you!

I met my wife of 7 years (and we dated for 3 before that) on a local dialup BBS before the internet was a huge thing. I’ll go get my walker now

One of my all-time favourite songs. Did Christy write it himself?

Love that one. I taped it off of LiveIreland.com till I can afford to get the CD  (I WILL be getting the CD!) I also like “January Man” and there were two others I taped but I don’t think I caught the names…

He did.
Christy had the unenviable task of going onstage before the late Rory Gallagher and composed the song shortly before going on to face Rorys adoring fans.
The song has survived much longer than some of the people mentioned in it…
Is Joe Dolan still gigging???

Slan,
D.

As popular as ever. he even recorded with Dustin the Turkey

Wow, you gotta know you’d have something in common if you met on a BBS ten years ago! Yeah, I figured I’d give the online thing a try…I’ve heard of some people doing online dating for months or years, so I feel reallly lucky to have found someone so totally awesome so soon after signing up.

I love that one, and the one about having the DT’s, too!

As I sat there and looked at the Guinness ad
I could never figure out
how your man stayed up on his surfboard
after fourteen pints of stout.

Have you heard the live “Amsterdam” album by Christy’s brother, Luka Bloom? Great disc!

He was still just Barry Moore then :stuck_out_tongue: (and wasn’t that one actyually called ‘in Groningen’ which probably didn’t work well for the english speaking market)
I remember being at a gig of himself and Manus Lunny around that time, in Rotterdam. There were only the five of us in the audience but they went ahead anyway. We took them to a local folkclub more or less across th street after the gig and played for a long time. for some reason I still remember playing ‘The Virginia’ on the pipes and the lads taking great delight in it. Great night, ah the 1980s

Peter wrote:" ah the 1980s."

…I’m gettin’ all misty just thinking about them…‘sniff’ :sniffle: …

What..that we’re both nerds?

Anyway, congrats again!

Thanks!!!

and, as if Nerdiness is a bad thing??? I learned to embrace the concept/realit of being a nerd years ago.
