I figured I’d give it a shot. I received this “melody harp” last Christmas. It comes from Hearth Song, a children’s company. It is a simplilifed harp, a real instrument, with easy play-along music sheets that fit under the strings. I have tried to supply a link below, I hope that it works. The way you descibe the harp sends one message…“this is junk”
Suggestion: figure out the best thing about this instrument and sell us on that. “Great toy of child under 2” or “Sounds great when dropped”. Whatever.
I thought the description seemed pretty much like what I read in the link. It is a real instrument. At the price of $40 we aren’t going to expect a whole lot but I don’t think it is really junk. It might be fun for a child to mess around with as a first attempt to play some tunes she didn’t know already. It looks like the child could work on it independently using the little charts.
It is what it is. It’s described in the link. Why the junk comment? It’s an instrument. It can play a song. It costs $40-50 . Some whistles cost $5. Some cost $300. Some are junk, some are great. I’m not trying to sell it. I got it as gift.
These harps (more like plucked zithers) are very good. They are a simple and robust design, suitable for age 4 and up(?), tunable, and quite pleasant to listen to. In this part of the world, they’re distributed by the same company that sells excellent wind chimes and doorbells (ones that are voiced and tuned musically).
Don’t take anything less than a Jerry-Tweaked, eed.
