Yeah. Spooky. I have lots of flutes and whistles like that. In the early days, I couldn’t figure out how to play them, but after a while I could get sounds out them.
Funny, but within 10 minutes of playing, there was this weird banging coming from the wall. Made my hair stand up on end so I stopped and went for a beer and forgot all about it.
Later, I tried again, on a Generation High D that a nice old English gentleman from the music shop sold me. Again, after 10 minutes there was this banging that seemed to come from the walls, and I could’ve sworn I heard voices too, sort of on the edge of my consciousness so I couldn’t make out what they were saying.
About a week later, I was tootling again on a High D, this time a Susato Kildare. The ‘banging wall’ started almost immediately. Then, to my horror, I heard banging coming from the front door, and voices shouting really loud… ooer!
Does the Coke come with the flute? Or is it an offering to the spirits? Wasn’t there a mistranslation in advertising some time back wherein the phrase “Pepsi lifts your spirits” became “Pepsi raises the spirits of your ancestors” in Chinese, or was that an urban legend?
Perhaps the spirits summoned by this flute, like me, do not appreciate Pepsi and the seller is including a Coke to be certain the buyer does not unnecessarily vex them right off the bat.
(It might sell faster if he throws in a pizza.)
p.s. I think it’s clever marketing. Will be interested to see if it sells.
This has happened to me too!!! I was playing my Sweetheart (and I was really getting the tune down too…I was very proud of myself) when all of a sudden I started to hear a loud banging coming from the door of the office. I stopped and it seemed that the banging stopped too, so I just started playing again (I would have gone out for a beer but like I said, I was just getting that tune down…) and the banging started in again, only now louder and more fervently. I decided to try to ignore it and just play louder, but then I heard shouting along with the banging. I was totally spooked, and didn’t want to look, but I did. There were at least 5 pairs of eyes peering at me through the window in the office door (beveled glass French type doors…really pretty! )…it was horrifying!! And then, all of a sudden I could hear the owners of those eyes yelling at me in an unearthly tone…“MOM!!! Are you going to make dinner YET??? It’s after 5!!!”
