Why do I find this disturbing?

Maybe because I haven’t had my morning caffeine or something!

Fodder for nightmares. Yes I know its Ms. Theresa but having grown up Catholic (I’m now a bonafide atheist heathen paleobiologist when I’m not making flutes) nuns still freak me out.

On another note, I suppose “Davy Jones Locker” now comes with that atrocious day dream believin’ Monkeys music now. Sailors beware! Especially ones that preferred the Beatles instead.

Is that it?

I’d think that a lot of people have adverse reactions to piccolos. :smiling_imp:

an’ that’s a lot of 'em! :open_mouth:

I have one of those piccolos from Basel, made by the father of today’s maker. It’s got a damn good tone, even if very loud…

A fellow flute maker wrote to me about this: “Yes, sometimes taking up piccolo is not a happy experience”

I know why this bothers you. I went to Catholic school and still remain happily Catholic. It’s the eyes. There are the eyes on the mask, the eyes under the eyes on the mask, and the eyes in the back of the nuns’ heads. That’s 6 eyes. Way too many. Way too creepy.

I answered an ad in the Tucson newspaper for a worker in a piccolo-making shop. At the time, Roy Seaman, a world class maker of blackwood and silver piccolos, had his manufacturing shop in Tucson. You don’t see too many ads in the newspaper about making instruments, especially piccolos. I’m not so sure that I would have been able to do the job with my allergies, etc., but it was interesting to be shown around the shop and to see how the piccolos were made. I didn’t get the job, but, nevertheless, I currently am the owner of several piccolos, including ones that I made myself.

I’m more like Casey in my religious beliefs, having spent a number of years in college studying the earth sciences. I do respect the Catholic school system, though, enough so that I am sending my granddaughter to a neighborhood Catholic grade school. She is in the 5th grade and loves her school.

I twice visited Mother Theresa’s Home for the Destitute and Dying in Calcutta. The first time I did the laundry,
the second time I brought my guitar and played the blues for the destitute and dying. In fact the destitute
and dying were doing OK. There were no piccolos about but I do wish I had had a flute, cause the place had wonderful
acoustics.

People wearing Mother Theresa masks, playing piccolos, whats going on here. Any normal person would find this extremely disturbing

ah, normal…

no wonder
